The globally distributed team of the Bonn-based IT expert meets once a year in Bonn to foster team spirit and professional exchange. For sustainability reasons, the company has chosen the week of the Bonn Corporate Run for this meeting, as it provides an excellent opportunity to combine professional exchange with team experiences. The multicultural and rapidly growing team works from the central location in Bonn as well as with globally distributed remote employees.

Bonn, August 16, 2023 - Sustainability is part of the daily business for digitalization and logistics expert BusinessCode. All solutions developed by the company help international clients optimize their resource usage. “What applies to our solutions naturally applies to us as a company as well. We make sure to use as few resources as possible. Business travel is kept to a minimum and is conducted by train whenever possible,” begins CEO Martin Schulze. However, the company doesn’t want to completely forgo in-person meetings in Bonn, as interpersonal contacts are essential for good communication.

“Communication is absolutely essential for developing innovative solutions like those we provide,” emphasizes Schulze, who also has an eye on the collaboration with BlueBox Systems, the company’s in-house startup. To encourage cross-team and cross-project conversations, they’ve agreed on a fixed team week each year. During this time, employees gather in Bonn to connect on a personal level beyond just professional matters. The week includes professional meetings for all project teams, cross-team workshops, and various team-building activities. The highlight is the Bonn Corporate Run, for which all employees from both BusinessCode and BlueBox Systems are registered.

“Team spirit is the foundation for professional creativity and joint project success. We want to use this event to create synergies for future collaboration,” explains Martin Schulze, for whom fostering a positive work environment is personally very important. The management agrees that BusinessCode’s continuous growth should not come at the expense of company culture. As a result, the week around the Bonn Corporate Run has become a fixed appointment in all employees’ calendars. This long-term planning allows for necessary employee travel to be organized well in advance, in the most resource-efficient and climate-neutral way possible. Through numerous shared leisure activities throughout the week, employees find it easier to connect and sometimes exchange personal stories. “This helps with projects, regardless of whether employees work for BusinessCode or BlueBox Systems,” Schulze concludes.
