BusinessCode's Commitment to STEM Education

BusinessCode is actively involved in promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in the region. Our initiatives include membership in the “WISSENschaf(f)t SPASS” association, participation in career preparation events at Bonn schools, and offering valuable internship opportunities. Just before the pandemic lockdown, three high school students completed their internships with our Bonn-based IT service provider.

May 25, 2020 - “At BusinessCode, we believe it’s crucial to bring the future-oriented world of IT into schools in a practical, hands-on way,” emphasizes CEO Martin Schulze. “That’s why we were particularly excited to welcome three student interns to our company!”

The three students from Realschule Hardtberg completed their three-week compulsory internship at BusinessCode during February and March. The opportunity began when one student discovered our company through our website while searching for IT internship opportunities. After a successful application process, two of their classmates decided to join, making it a trio of young tech enthusiasts experiencing the world of professional IT development and customer project management firsthand—including exposure to international collaboration with DHL.

Equipped with company laptops, the students became integral members of our team. “This has been an incredibly insightful experience,” they agreed unanimously. They noted that many of their peers at other companies didn’t get the same level of hands-on involvement.

CEO Schulze explains with a smile: “An IT internship isn’t just about playing video games. It’s about understanding how we develop real business solutions. Our work is diverse, requiring both technical skills and the ability to understand and adapt to customer needs.” The experience clearly made an impact—all three interns expressed interest in pursuing IT careers after graduation, with some even considering future opportunities at BusinessCode.

This isn’t unusual for our company. “We’ve had many interns and trainees who’ve chosen to stay with us long-term. This continuity strengthens our team spirit and builds valuable institutional knowledge—it’s what makes BusinessCode special,” Schulze adds.

We remain committed to bridging the gap between education and the professional world. At BusinessCode, we understand the importance of early, practical experience in application-oriented IT—something that simply can’t be replicated through digital platforms or virtual training alone.

Looking ahead, BusinessCode will continue its active involvement in regional STEM initiatives. Our participation includes supporting the “WISSENschaf(f)t SPASS” program at the Deutsches Museum Bonn, collaborating with local schools, and sponsoring the Maths Pro association’s annual regional mathematics competition.
